During the Qing dynasty (1644-1912), Jasmine Tea gradually gained recognition and popularity throughout China.  Commercial processing of the tea started 270 years ago (in the Yongzheng period (1722—1735) of Qing dynasty).  Large scale commercial production and exportation of Jasmine tea began after the Opium Wars (1839-1860).  Fujian’s Jasmine tea production and exports currently ranks first in China.  Today, Jasmine tea is a popular tea beverage cherished worldwide.

The delicate and fragrant White Night Jasmine is the city flower of Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian province. The people of Fuzhou adore the Jasmine flower and use it to make many decorative products, such as necklaces and hairpins and have long known how to make Jasmine scent boxes.
