Jasmine Dragon Pearl is a Jasmine scented green tea, first developed in the 1990s.  The tea was given its name because its shaped dry tea leaves look similar to delicate dragon pearls.  PeLi Teas’ Dragon Pearls are produced from the same high quality cultivars used to produce our world famous Fuding White teas. 

PeLi Teas' world-class Jasmine Dragon Pearl is a handcrafted tea produced in the Taimu Mountain area of the northeastern Fujian province. To create our exquisite tea, green Dragon Pearls are produced in the spring.  The plucked tea leaves consist of the tender sprout of one bud and either one or two tender leaves. 

After a slight withering to reduce leaf moisture, the tea leaves are heated to arrest oxidation.  The leaves then undergo an initial rolling followed by further baking and drying.  The leaves are then cooled and taken through multiple stages of wrapping rolling, shaping re-baking drying and cooling.  Our green Dragon Pearls tea is a delightful drink without any further processing. 

To make our Jasmine Dragon Pearl tea, the green Dragon Pearls are mated with freshly picked plump late autumn White Night Jasmine.  The autumn Jasmine blooms are favored because they contain less moisture and have a finer fragrance. 

Our tea experts pick the delicate big white plump flowers in the morning when the tiny petals are tightly closed and keep them in a cool place until early evening.  In the early evening, when the Jasmine flowers are half open, bamboo trays of green Dragon Pearls are layered alternatively between bamboo trays of the fresh Jasmine blossoms and warm air is gently blown for several hours through the trays, mating the fresh green tea with the Jasmine flowers’ scent and taste.  This process is repeated several times.

During scenting, the tea will absorb the moisture of the Jasmine flowers and must be re-dried after the scenting process is completed.  After our tea masters have achieved the desired taste and fragrance, our Jasmine Dragon Pearls are winnowed, refined, graded and packed.
